Rooted in the principles of geodesic dome construction, this sculptural pavilion will feature a powder-coated steel framework supporting a series of translucent, laser-cut panels in hexagonal, pentagonal, and triangular forms. These panels will be intricately cut with geometric and organic motifs, a nod to the traditional Mexican art of papel picado, creating a delicate interplay of light and shadow. A grand 19-foot-high archway will welcome parkgoers inside, while four smaller archways encircle the structure, maintaining open sightlines to the nearby playground. Beneath the pavilion, a level grass surface seamlessly integrates with the surrounding sidewalk, ensuring accessibility for all. As night falls, a thoughtfully integrated lighting plan—featuring embedded well lights in the sidewalk and strategically placed post lights—will illuminate the piece, transforming it into a glowing beacon within the park.
